According to WHO (World Health Organisation), CoV or Coronavirus is a large family of viruses that can cause sickness. The sickness can show symptoms like a common cold or maybe severe problems like Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (MERS-CoV) and Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS-CoV).

As the virus has been discovered in 2019, it is also known as COVID-19. The virus was previously not identified in humans. The germ is believed to be transmitted between people and animals and so are Zoonotic. The SARS-CoV have been identified to be carried to humans via civet cats, whereas, the MERS variety through dromedary camels.

Symptoms of COVID-19

Every disease bears some basic signs that are necessary to identify whether a person is affected by that disease or not. CoV also has some common signs. The symptoms include cough, fever, and shortness of breath or breathing difficulties. There can be more severe cases, where the infection leads to pneumonia, acute and severe respiratory syndrome, kidney failure, etc. All of these signs are highly severe and cause death.

How the virus can be prevented from spreading?

Know the tricks and follow the tips to prevent the virus from spreading. The aim is to win over the pandemic war. So, here are the tips to be followed.

Wash your hands frequently – Regular and thorough cleaning of your hands with soap and water is very important. Alcohol-based hand sanitizers are also of good use in this case. This procedure helps to get rid of the virus that can spread through your hands.

Maintain a good distance of at least 1 meter or 3 feet approximately- Keep a safe distance of a meter from the person who is either sneezing or coughing. During coughing or sneezing, small liquid droplets are sprayed through nose and mouth. Now, an infected person will spread the virus through those small liquid droplets. When you become close to the person, you will breathe the droplets including the COVID-19.

Avoid touching nose, mouth, and eyes with hand- hands are the part of the body that are used for multiple actions and as a result touches so many surfaces. When the hands get contaminated, you can transfer the virus to your eyes, mouth or nose. These three are the entry point of the virus to your body and so will make you sick.

Practice good hygiene and consult a doctor if needed- whenever you sneeze or cough, cover your nose and mouth respectively with a bent elbow or with a tissue. Dispose of the used tissue immediately. If you have a fever, cough or difficulty in breathing, visit your nearest medical centre and ask for medical assistance.
